POSTNATAL DOULA TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Role and Responsibility of the Doula 

As a postnatal doula, I - Rebecca Spaven Postnatal Doula - shall endeavour to help, support and be present with my clients and give as much practical, emotional and informative support and help as possible. Support and help is limited to the knowledge brought with me as a doula to facilitate a successful transition into parenthood. 

Responsibility of the Client 

In consideration of me providing the aforesaid help, support and presence during the booked period, the client will pay as follows: 

£30 per hour (with one session comprising of a minimum of 3 hours) or the Package cost

Parking: as necessary

Terms and Conditions 

Individual session fees, that are not part of a package, are payable in advance in full or on a weekly basis by either cash or bank transfer. 

50% of Package fees are to be paid to secure booking (non-refundable) with the remaining 50% payable on Friday of the week before commencement of support. This will be by either cash or bank transfer.

Payment is required on a Friday and within 48 hours of the session to be worked, or a late charge of £40 may be incurred. 

The client will be invoiced monthly for any other expenses that I have incurred during that calendar month, for example, shopping for the client, travel costs, parking costs etc.

I will be responsible for accounting and for paying any income tax and national insurance contributions payable on the above amounts. 

The client will give 14 days’ notice for cancellation of a session booked or full fee must be paid. 

The client will give 14 days’ notice to terminate the agreement in its entirety. 

If I terminate the agreement, I will give two weeks’ notice and will provide the service during that period. 

I will attempt  to find a suitable replacement should I leave or be ill and be unable to fulfil the agreed agreement or the two-week notice period. If this is impossible, I will refund the session cost.

Should an individual present in the clients household become unwell with a contagious illness when a session is due, impacted sessions are to be either cancelled and refunded or postponed.

7 days’ notice is required for booking additional session, as per my availability. 

As a Doula with Doula UK, I shall abide by their Philosophy and Code of Conduct. Any personal information the client discusses with the doula will be held in confidence, unless the client, their partner or their children are at risk. 

i have appropriate insurance to cover my work and always take the greatest precautions to avoid injury or risk to the client or their children. If I feel that a task or action may compromise the safety of the client or their children, I will use their right to decline undertaking it. 

I cannot be held responsible for the actions of others beyond my control. 

Fully Insured, Enhanced DBS, ICO Registered. Evidence of all can be produced on request. 

By signing up to a Birth Preparation and Hypnobirthing Course with Rebecca Spaven Postnatal Doula, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Payment

A non-refundable deposit of £50 is required to confirm your place on your chosen hypnobirthing course.

Without a deposit payment, your place is not confirmed.

​The balance of the course fee must be paid in full at least three weeks before the first session of the course unless we have a separate payment plan in place.

​If you pay a deposit for a course and there is less than 3 weeks to go before the start of the course, the final balance payment is due immediately.

​All balance payments are paid via bank transfer.

Course fees are non refundable except under exceptional circumstances.

​Payment is made for a full course as advertised and not for individual sessions.

​Flexible payment terms must be agreed in advance.

​Cancellations

In the event of cancellation by a participant prior to the start of a Hypnobirthing course, the deposit is non-refundable.

In the event of cancellation by a participant after one or more sessions of a Hypnobirthing course have been completed, no refund will be given.​

​In the unlikely event of cancellation of a course by myself, attempts will be made to reschedule. If this is not possible, or alternative dates cannot be agreed, a full refund of the total fee will be given.

​In the unlikely event of cancellation of an individual session by me, attempts will be made to reschedule. If this is not possible, or if alternative dates cannot be agreed, a refund for sessions not yet taken will be given. If it is not possible for all couples within a group to agree an alternative date then provision will be made for individual couples. The refunded fee per session will be calculated as the total fee, after deduction of the £50 deposit, divided by the number of sessions in the course. No refund will be made for sessions already taken.

​Rescheduling Sessions

For participants taking a private one to one course, 48 hours notice must be given in changing appointment dates or times. Where this is not done the participants will be liable for the session fee calculated as the total fee, after deduction of the £50 deposit, divided by the number of sessions in the course. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances.

General

Participants take part in Hypnobirthing sessions with the understanding that the content of the course is in no way intended to be taken as medical advice.

Participants should seek the advice of a health-care provider to answer any health-related or pregnancy-related issues surrounding their pregnancy, their labour or their birth.

Policies and guidelines from maternity services throughout the world will always be different, Rebecca Spaven Postnatal Doula will provide you with as much up-to-date information as possible regarding systems within the UK. It is your responsibility to find out how your local trust/hospital operates and what their policies and guidelines are, Hannah cannot be held accountable for any differing information that you may be provided with.

​Rebecca Spaven Postnatal Doula cannot be held responsible for any decisions that you make regarding your pregnancy and birth.

Any questions or doubts you have about you the use of Hypnobirthing should be taken up with your health care professionals.

Taking a Hypnobirthing course in no way guarantees a certain birth outcome.

​The resources given to you on a Rebecca Spaven Postnatal Doula Hypnobirthing course are for your own personal use and should not be distributed to third parties. Again, these do not represent medical advice.
