Sickness in pregnancy is common, and around 8 in 10 pregnant women feel sick (nausea) and/or are sick (vomiting) during pregnancy. This can happen at any time of day, despite the familiar title of 'Morning Sickness'.
Some pregnant women, however, experience very intense and excessive nausea and vomiting, and this is a condition known as hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which can often require hospital treatment.
If you develop HG symptoms, please do seek out the support of your midwife or doctor as early as possible.
The debilitating symptoms of HG can impact your life at a time when you were expecting to be enjoying pregnancy and looking forward to the birth of your baby.
It can be tough both emotionally and physically and may also hinder or halt everyday living, alongside your postnatal preparedness.
What I can do to support you antenatally, if you are suffering from HG, is everything that I would do to support you postnatally. This could include practical support, such as household chores or running errands, providing emotional support, and any informational support you may require. On days where you feel able to discuss your postnatal period, we can talk through any aspect that you may have ideas, concerns or queries about, to assist in your postnatal planning.
I also have a six year old son, so have a fast 'sick bucket' reflex if required!
My HG Sessions are 2 hours long, and are £40 per session.
I appreciate that getting out of bed or speaking to anyone, particularly on a high sickness intensity day, may be something you want to avoid.
With that in mind, no contact visits are fully acceptable; e.g. an emailed shopping list, whereby I collect your requirements, bring to your home (accessibility determined by your preference) and unpack. for you Payment easily made via invoice and bank transfer.
Please do drop me a message with any questions or if you would like to book a session.
